Channing Turns 2!

This little guy will turn two in just a few weeks.  He is such a sweet boy with a smile that lights up a room.  You know his momma has trained him well when at 18 months he could say Maxx, yes my friend that is short for T.J. Maxx. :)

Thanksgiving 2012

I love seeing the daily posts of thankfulness on facebook, even from gratitude of the simplest cup of coffee I love the outflow of gratefulness. I pondered wether to jump onboard the 30 days of thanks and decided I would take a deeper look inward. It goes without saying that I am truly I'm thankful for my precious family, friends who have remained steadfast, and my faith in my unfailing God. That being said, this Thanksgiving I am grateful for discovering a key ingredient to maintaining an attitude of gratefulness; perspective.

Perspective is a little thing that makes a HUGE difference in the outcome of my everyday life. I recently photographed a wedding with another photographer, which was a blast by the way. So as I was photographing, my fellow photographer was photographing the same individuals from a different angle. When it was time to go through the images, I was awed by the results. It was fresh and alive and the emotion from those moments were captured from two different perspectives.

This perspective principle is something I have truly focused on this past year in my own personal life. Challenges face us no matter who you are or how hard you try to be prepared for whatever life brings you. I have found that choosing my perspective on a situation is critical to the outcome. I have to say that some perspectives only magnify the negative in a situation and sometimes the best perspective is from the back; when it is further off in the distance only then will the true perspective come into clear focus.

My faith is a huge guide in finding my perspective, I love what the bible says in Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Life happens and deals you things that you never dreamed of sometimes for the better and sometimes for what seems to be the worst. However, in the worst situations, I have learned so much about myself, and who I really am that I can't really wish that those things never happened, because without those yucky situations I would not be writing this today. I wouldn't have needed to pursue a new perspective and would have remained the same.

So this thanksgiving, I'm thankful for finding a new perspective.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Heidi
